So Arc decides to live inconspicuously as a mercenary, but his nature of being unable to overlook evil deeds in front of him keeps upsetting that plan. The structure in which a body that must hide collides with a temperament that steps forward is the particular fun of this work. The premise called 'unwitting social revolution,' in which actions he takes without being aware of them lead to changes in society, adds both the tension of concealing his identity and a sense of exhilaration to an isekai adventure.
It is a series that aired and was released in 2022, and is currently available on Wavve by subscription. Since the appearance of a game character becomes the reason he has to hide his identity, the protagonist's looks themselves serve both as a constraint on the story and as a comedic device. The fact that only viewers know the identity inside the armor also adds a curious tension to each scene.
What to watch for
- 01
The setup that being found out makes him a target for subjugation hangs a subtle tension over every choice Arc makes.
- 02
The mismatch between his resolve to stay inconspicuous and his nature of not overlooking evil deeds is the driving force of the story.
- 03
The fact that actions Arc is not himself aware of spread into changes in society gives it a different texture from typical isekai growth stories.
A good fit for viewers who like isekai fantasy and want the exhilaration of an out-of-step hero story with a hidden identity.
